We have a date for the Planning Committee meeting to consider SITA's planning application. We have been advised informally that this is to be held on Tuesday 29th July 2008 at County Hall, Morpeth. We need as many people as possible to attend and show there disapproval to the proposed extension. Meet outside at 5pm.
Congratulations to Margaret Richards and Bobby Nixon who have won the Seaton Delaval ward in the 2008 local elections. We wish them both the best of look for the future and would like to take this opportunity to thank the other candidates who were up for nomination. Plus a huge thank you to all of the candidates who attended our last meeting.
Do you have a story about something that has happened in Seaton Delaval or Holywell that residents may want to be made aware of? Why not send us it and if it's any good we will add it to this page.
As most of you will be aware of by now, Seaton Valley Spotlight is no longer around because of the lack of funding however later this year a new magazine is going to be created. Are you interested in getting involved in this project? You may be interested in journalism or photography, well if this sounds like you or someone you know we want you to get in touch. Please contact Stephen Stanners on stephenstanners@seatondelaval.org or by phoning 0789 269 6394. We look forward to seeing you there.
We would like to bring to your attention that the meeting on May 1st 2008 will not be held at the Mustard Seed as usual but the Arts Centre, The Dormer Salvation Army Hall, Seaton Delaval. For more information please contact us.
It was announced at the last Residents Association Meeting that Councillor Bob Watson has secured £100,00 to be used in the refurbishment of the Seaton Delaval public toilets. In recent years the toilets have been getting in a worse state because of the frequent use from residents and visitors. As well as the toilet facilities already available being updated a disabled toilet will be added to the rear. An official start date for the work has not yet been announced however it will be before April 2009. Bob Watson said "This is one of the biggest investments for Seaton Valley in recent years apart from Astley Park of course". We will keep you up to date in any changes.
I received an email today from Mandy Clarke, the editor of Spotlight, she would like me to make you all aware that Spotlight is no longer going to be made, In her own words "Whilst I have been supporting it with my own money I cannot justify continuing, especially when the monthly battle to find new advertisers seems to be becoming harder rather than easier! I have taken great pleasure in putting it together every month, and have met some wonderful people through doing so. I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved, advertised or contributed in whatever form. Without your support it would never have got off the ground at all!". She would also like me to make all advertisers that they will receive any money back that they have paid upfront "If you are one of the advertisers who have paid in advance, I will endeavour to get a cheque refund to you in the next couple of weeks."
The official website of the Seaton Delaval and Holywell Residents Association is up and running. It has taken a few weeks to get it all sorted and updated to a standard that we think is acceptable and you can now view it. Thank you to www.seatondelaval.org for the FREE website hosting.
Our next Residents Association meeting is on July 24th 2008 from 7 till 8 (aprox) at the Seaton Delaval Arts Centre, the former Salvation Army Hall
